Character Info
Name: Cedric Battle
Alias: Spitfire
Age and birthdate: Currently 26 | Born in March 3 1999.
Home city: Mercury City
Type: Neutral
Occupation: Mercenary
Appearance:

Cedric has black, wavy hair that's long enough to cover the tops of his ears. He has brown eyes and a slight beard. He is 5'5" tall. He usually wears simple white shirts with beige cargo pants. He has a lot of the same set of clothes. His PB is Joe Manganiello.

When as Spitfire, he wears a hard plastic mask that covers his head, a trench coat, and jeans. The mask has holes for eyes and three vertical slits for the mouth. A fiberglass mesh covers the eye holes and mouth slits. It is painted with a red and yellow fire design. The trench coat has the same red and yellow fire design on it. The jeans are blue.

Personality:

Cedric can be identified nearly immediately as very goofy. He'll practically do anything that makes people laugh. He has a large range of humor and will use all of what he knows in order to bring laughter. However, some of his jokes are tasteless, eye-rolling puns. The way he constantly tries to bring humor on the scene often depicts him as being unable to take things seriously.

But behind the mask of humor, Cedric is very jaded and uncaring. He has morals, it's just that they're very loose. He doesn't understand why society is supposed to act good and he believes empathy and compassion is earned. He would walk by, not even taking a glance, if a complete stranger was in trouble.

In addition to his uncaring side, he wouldn't go out of his way to kill someone just for the sake of murder. He has a line he'll never cross, and as such, he may reject jobs that he believes are truly heinous such as harming pets and children. He also believes in death coming as fast as possible and will try to make his attacks direct and swift. Well, unless he hates a person, at which point the amount of hate he has toward said person will be equivalent to the amount of suffering he wants them to have. A complete stranger he would try and kill quickly, but that one substitute teacher he had during 2nd grade would face extended suffering.

However, if the complete stranger was actually one of his best friends or family, he would drop everything in order to help them. He can be very violent and hot blooded at times when it comes to things he cares about. The same can also be said for people that argue with him.

When he puts on his Spitfire costume, he acts completely serious, trying to be as intimidating and scary as possible. He'll let loose his rage and aggression more easily as he won't be acting as his public persona as Cedric Battle, and is thus more prone to violence, thinking that himself as Cedric will never get targeted by any form of law or enemies that he makes. To further the separation from himself and Spitfire, he'll talk i a low, growly voice.

Personal history:

Cedric was once an optimistic young boy, hoping one day to meet a hero. He fantasised often about heroes and hero-related stuff, but he was naive. One day, around when he was 8 years old, a supervillain called The Plague had attacked him and his family. They were able to escape unharmed, but Cedric wasn't so lucky. The Plague had managed to have skin contact with him, spreading numerous diseases into Cedric's body.

Over the next few days, Cedric had developed a multitude of symptoms. He had developed an extreme, wheezing cough, a runny, sneezy nose, severe headaches, muscle weakness, swollen limbs. He was about to die when his body temperature increased far above a fatal fever and he slipped into a coma for a few days, unable to wake up.

When he did manage to wake up, all symptoms and sickness was gone from his body. Cedric's family was happy yet confused as to how that happened. They reasoned that Cedric had superpowers and urged him on to train as a superhero until he got old enough. Cedric, unfortunately, had other plans. Since he saw that no superheroes were around to save him, he wondered why he should become a superhero.

Superheroes were supposed to be around whenever there's trouble and none were to be found when they were attacked. Since then, Cedric didn't really show that much interest in heroes anymore despite his parents' constant urging for him to become one. This started a downward spiral beginning to how he would act when he was an adult.

This dislike of the ideals of what it means to be a superhero was put into further question when the third boom of heroes started retiring. He began wondering if superheroes even cared, and if they did, why they chose to retire. He became angry and bitter. His hot temper caused him to lash out a lot.

A few years after that, he was nearly arrested after he got into a fight with a random stranger. The public fight ended when he managed to fire out a fireball from his hand. It happened in a split second and not many people saw it, but it made him realize he really was a superhuman. He didn't want his parents to be right about him becoming a superhero, but this event made him realize that life was a joke and he's the punchline.

Since life is a joke, why shouldn't he joke around with it? He began to develop a wide range of humor in order to mask his anger and apathy at the world. He really didn't care anymore and eventually ran away from home, going to do whatever he wanted to do. He quickly found out that he needed money and began to do various odd jobs and errands for money, all while joking around.

When Alisa Stevens was elected president, he had decided he had enough with menial jobs and errands and decided to put his fire powers to use. He bought a paintball mask and other necessary equipment in order to have a superhuman identity and began advertising for Spitfire: Mercenary for Hire. A year later, and he still hasn't gotten many jobs, thus forcing him to continue to do odd jobs and errands for money, bringing some of the anger and apathy he has from behind his mask of humor.

Powers:

True to his superhuman identity, Cedric is all about flames. He can shoot balls of fire as hot as 170 degrees Fahrenheit from his hands. He is mostly resistant to fire and is able to stand extended interaction in temperatures reaching up to 160 degrees Fahrenheit without becoming uncomfortable.

He also has a tiny increase in resistance to cold. When it would take a normal human to start shivering, it would take around 5 minutes. To him, it takes no less than 15.

In addition to those resistances, his body temperature is instinctively set to heat up to 130 degrees whenever any sort of infection, disease, plague, or virus hits him. In that time, he will be out of commission, but will be able to get back in action within the next few days, and will be completely cured of anything.

Though his powers are weak as of right now, Cedric has the potential to become one of the most powerful superhumans on the planet. The temperature of his fire attacks will slowly increase in temperature, thereby allowing more powerful attacks. After around a century, he'd be able to absorb external sources of fire in order to heal himself.

It won't happen until a long time from now, possibly forty or fifty years from 2025, but there may eventually be an extremely small chance that he'll be able to turn himself entirely into flame, thereby rendering him immune to anything but water, magical, and mental attacks. In addition to that, there's the same amount of chance he may be able to use his fire powers to give himself flight.

Skills:

Cedric Battle doesn't really have any notable set of skills. He knows how to do many different things, but isn't a master of them. He's picked up many hobbies, only to drop them soon due to disinterest. But one thing he's good at is being funny.

Weaknesses:

Conversely to his resistance to fire, he has a glaring weakness to water. Any sort of water touching his skin will cause him physical pain, and it will feel as if he is burning. Years of having this weakness has turned him extremely agoraphobic. He is able to drink liquids without any sort of trouble, but things such as swimming, washing his hands, running under the rain, or even showering will physically hurt him. As such, he's sure to keep lots of deodorant and body spray around him.

His fireballs aren't that fast, and letting loose too many fireballs is akin to normal human exhaustion. Other than all that, Cedric is a normal human being with no other resistances or weaknesses.

RP Goals: Cedric is a very morally loose, very chaotic, very jaded person. My goal in this is for him to eventually become a true hero, gaining more morals, regaining his faith in superheroes, and being a better person, eventually fighting for justice and the greater good.

Third person sample:

Cedric mowed up the last of the grass and lazily let go of the handle, letting the lawnmower die out. He huffed as he wiped off his brow, even though there was no sweat. He sat down next to the lawnmower and got his phone out of his pocket, navigating it in order to see if he had any new messages for Spitfire. It was empty. Cedric sighed. Business for him was way too slow. He was really hoping for action.

Spitfire was his superhuman identity. A superhuman identity is worthless if it doesn't get used. With frustration built up inside of him, he put his phone away and stood up. He lazily grabbed the lawnmower and tugged it to the garage of the house, leaving it there. The errand for the moment was to mow the lawn, not to put away the lawnmower. He wasn't about to do something stupid and also not part of the job description.

He pulled out his emergency body spray and spritzed his chest under his shirt a few times to make sure he didn't smell bad and then walked up to the front door, knocking on it and awaiting the owner of the house to see his work. It didn't really take long. The owner opened the door and surveyed the lawn for a couple of seconds. They also noticed that the lawnmower wasn't put away.

"Good thing you didn't put the lawnmower away. It's a little bit unfinished. Near the left part of the driveway, it's a bit uneven."

Cedric rolled his eyes and responded. He didn't want to do this all over again. The grass was all straight and neat to him. "You see it, you do it." Cedric hooked his foot on the door, forcefully closing it and walking away. This job really wasn't worth doing. He wasn't Spitfire.

The greater good is… something evil people will say. It's always their ideals that they try and shove down everyone's throats. Some people might eat it up, but not me.

Your greatest strengths are… my humor. Definitely my humor. I can make anyone laugh. Well, that and my personal bodyguard. His name's Spitfire. Don't mess.

Killing is… what happens when one person murders another. It can happen lots of ways. Knives, guns, swords, bombs... superpowers. You name it, and it's probably on 1000 Ways To Die.

Teachers and mentor figures would say you are… very funny. The best damn comedian they ever know.

Sacrifice is… giving something up. Something like a New Years Resolution that absolutely nobody goes through with or some crap. I never bother with them anymore. I just stay up to drink and watch the ball drop.

When you were younger you… nearly died. A supervillain nearly killed me. The Plague touched me and I nearly died. But look at me now! Still alive and kicking!
